Edward Snowden joins Twitter, follows NSA

Snowden’s first tweet – Can you hear me now? has been retweeted over 37,000 times and his account has over 3,00,000 followers till last updated.

Within a couple hours of launching, Snowden’s account had almost 300,000 followers.

The former National Security Agency contractor who leaked details of NSA spying is on Twitter.

Twitter, which verified Snowden’s account with a blue check mark, published a GIF showing how many people across the world began to follow him since Tuesday morning.

He was in hiding in Hong Kong at the time but fled to Moscow. His passport was revoked a week later by the U.S. Department of State. They’re not even really talking about space or whatever, it’s just the sort of small talk that you’d expect Edward Snowden and Neil deGrasse Tyson to make.

The USA government has charged Snowden with espionage and theft of government property, crimes for which he could be imprisoned for 30 years if found guilty. “Staying busy?” As a follow-up question, Tyson asked Snowden how he feels about a few saying he is a traitor while a few say he is a hero.

Snowden relocated to Russian Federation after turning over top-secret USA government documents to reporters. Snowden responded that he was “just a citizen with a voice”.

Lisa Monaco, President Obama’s homeland security adviser, rejected the request in the official White House response.

The whistle blower in March this year said he was willing to come to the US if given a fair trial. Despite facing severe restrictions on his movement, Edward Snowden continues to remain a strong crusader of his beliefs.
