Samsung has heard the faint cries for physical keyboards and delivered with a new accessory for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Samsung announced two new mobile devices today, and both were to be expected.

The company also announced that its Samsung Pay service would roll out in South Korea on August 20 and in the United States on September 28, and that it would launch in Britain, Spain and China with partners to be named in each market.

Following the dismal sales of its current flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S5 Edge, Samsung is now seeking to revive the fortunes of its mobile division with the launch of two new phablets, the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. But it dived into virtual reality – the new hot sector in tech – with its first Gear VR headset a year ago.

It too has a 5.7-inch quad HD display but it’s one that wraps around on both edges (hence its name).

The Note 5 also comes with an Edge-like curve to it which could make it easier to hold despite the size. Galaxy Note 5 is nothing like its predecessor as it is revolutionized with a metal and glass body like the Samsung Galaxy S6. The S6 Edge+ has very similar characteristics to the S6 Edge, with 4GB of RAM and a choice of 32 or 64GB of storage. Users who got to see the phone mostly describe it as blown-up Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

Unlike previous version of Galaxy phones, there will be no space to include a microSD card to expand memory or have a replaceable battery. Both phones boost huge 14.5 centimeter (5.7 inch) screens, which are measured diagonally – a little big larger than Apple’s pocket-bursting iPhone 6 Plus.

The bigger unit’s cameras remain unchanged from that in its smaller younger brother, with the main rear camera being a 16-megapixel f/1.9 aperture unit.

Samsung will be hoping its new devices will reignite consumer interest which is being taken by rivals such as Apple and Chinese manufacturers like Huawei and Xiaomi.
