Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi claimed that the flooding of the tunnels between Gaza and Egypt is being carried out in coordination with the Palestinian Authority.
In an interview with the Associated Press Sunday about the pardon, Sisi expressed his readiness to pardon other journalists, whom were sued and accused in absentia. “There is an increase in the extremist groups. With all that in mind, we can sense how hard and how complicated” the challenge is.
Egypt is the midst of “a ferocious war against terrorism and extremism …”
Cairo not only battles insurgents affiliated with ISIL in the Sinai but the threat from Muslim Brotherhood Islamists still reeling over the overthrow of Mohammed Morsi.
“These measures aim to protect the Egyptian border and preserve Palestinian and Egyptian national security”, he said.
“Rest assured that we are always keen on sorting out issues and problems, especially those that relate to journalists and to the media personnel”, said Sisi during the interview.
Sisi also expressed hope that the Palestinian issue would be resolved and in expanding Egypt’s peace deal with Israel to include more Arab countries.
“Prime Minister Netanyahu urges PA President Mahmoud Abbas once again to return immediately to the negotiating table to advance the diplomatic process”, the statement said.

The gathering was meant to discuss the worldwide negotiations on climate change and efforts exerted in preparation for the Paris summit on this score slated for November 30 to December 10, said Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Youssef.
