Eichfeld places seventh in singles canoe
An Olympian with ties to East Tennessee missed out on the medal podium Tuesday afternoon in the finals of the men’s canoe single slalom.

However, that time is nowhere near close to the top times of around 1:32, so Eichfeld is going to have to bring an even better performance on Tuesday.
He raced admirably in the final and finished seventh overall, just two seconds out of finishing on the medal stand.
Denis Gargaud Chanut, of France, won the gold medal (94.17).
For the finals, Eichfeld started first.
His finish in Rio was the best by an American man since Benn Fraker took sixth in 2008 in singles US Canoe/Kayak said on its Facebook page. Casey Eichfeld will be representing the United States and he got into the semifinals with a run of 1:41:23.

Eichfeld isn’t done. He will also race in the doubles semifinals later this week.
