US President Barack Obama today greeted Muslims across the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and prayed for those killed in recent terrorist attacks during the month of Ramzan in places like Orlando, Istanbul, Dhaka, Baghdad and Medina. The prayer is made and then a sermon given by an Imam; the head of the congregation. “This Eid comes once a year, we are happy for a day, not more”.
For Muslims, a typical calendar doesn’t serve its objective when it comes to highlighting Islamic holidays.
Now Ramadan is on its end so Muslims are all set to celebrate Eid Al Fitr which is also known as Meethi Eid.
This is a special time, in which families, friends and communities join together in a period of prayer, celebration and joyful contemplation. “It’s a double whammy for us as Muslims that in one way we so much innocent life lost”. We eat fruits and fried dough twists for our celebrations. And by working together, we can make Britain a country which works for everyone. A major Pew Forum report, titled The Future of the Global Muslim Population released in January 2011 estimated that the population of Muslims in Metro Vancouver would to rise to over 230,000 over 20 years.

Big gatherings of Eid prayers were also reported at TRC and Polo ground in the heart of the city and other shrines of the city, they said, adding similar gatherings were held at all districts headquarters and major towns of the Valley. While offering of “Namaaz” prayer was held in all mosques and Eidgahs across the state on this occasion, Muslim brothers broke their month-long fasting by having sweet dish. The feasts last up to three days in most Muslim countries. Indonesia is the largest Muslim country with 13 percent of world’s population of Muslims, another 25 percent live throughout South Asia, and the Muslim populations of the Middle East and North Africa account for yet another 20 percent.
