Eiffel Tower closed indefinitely after Paris attacks

I heard the news on the radio, and I had this heartfelt reaction.

While Jean is from Paris, he now resides in London. It’s been a really unlucky week for a holiday here because so much is closed.

It has become known as the “Peace for Paris” symbol.

“I thought we needed a message for peace”, he told CNN.

TheJean_Jullien Twitter account took credit for the drawing. The image was re-tweeted thousands of times. His work also garnered a similar level of attention on his Facebook page, with over 17,000 likes and 23,000 shares.

“I am hurting for people”, said Jullien.

“I think that the tourists who were here this morning went to sleep at nine or ten yesterday evening”, said a market owner.

On Saturday in NY, hundreds of people including mayor Bill de Blasio gathered for a vigil at Washington Square Park. Emotions ran high in NY in remembrance of 9/11 – many left flowers, candles, and even a glass of wine and a baguette.

“We’re offering our community the chance to change their profile pictures to show support for France and the people of Paris”, White said.

Artist Jean Jullien was on vacation when he heard about the terrorists attacks in his home country Friday.

The post has attracted over 2,000 comments, including one that says: “Thank you for creating such handsome symbol of peace and union for such an disgusting moment”.

The statement mocked France’s involvement in air attacks on suspected IS bases in Syria and Iraq, noting that France’s air power was “of no use to them in the streets and rotten alleys of Paris”.
