8 people, including six children were killed in Houston earlier this month.

The mother’s ex-boyfriend, David Conley, is accused in the fatal shootings.

Pastor Gregg Nelson of La Crescent United Methodist Church says the bodies were transported to La Crescent because the last surviving sibling is a La Crescent resident.

About 25-35 motorcycles lined the church as members stood on guard, taking shifts to make sure the family had their privacy. They also formed a human wall at the cemetery to shield the burial.

The Bikers Against Child Abuse said they were at the funeral home because the family asked them to be.

Following the funeral service, a lengthy procession drove slowly from the church through La Crescent to a cemetery just west of town where the eight victims were laid to rest.

The Associated Press reports Valerie Jackson had formerly lived in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and says extended family members from the Chicago area are among those expected. Authorities say Nathaniel was Conley’s son from his relationship with Valerie Jackson, while the Jacksons were the parents of the other five children.
