‘El Chapo’ Could Be Returned To Prison He Escaped

This cartel emerged around 2010 after the restructuring of criminal gangs in the country, and Mexican security agents now believe this new cartel is operating in the state of Jalisco and states in central, south and east of Mexico, where they have been involved in shootouts, murders and others.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar was one of 10 to 12 men abducted from an upscale restaurant in the resort Mexican city of Puerto Vallarta on Sunday.

Now CNN have quoted a senior Mexican police official saying that they believed Alfredo was in one of four states.

Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, nicknamed “Alfredillo”, was kidnapped on Monday by armed men belonging to his father’s rival cartel in a restaurant in the seaside resort city of Puerto Vallarta in western Mexico.

The Sinaloa cartel, sometimes referred to by Mexican officials as the Pacific cartel, is the oldest drug cartel in Mexico.

But, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation, intelligence suggests Alfredo was not taking his role with organization seriously and was “caught off guard”, allowing the abduction to happen.

He would not repeat the name of the Jalisco New Generation cartel, but in response to a reporter’s question, he said authorities had confirmed that group was responsible for the abductions.

Witness interviews, surveillance video and a search of five vehicles parked outside La Leche restaurant where the incident occurred led to the identification of Jesus Alfredo and three other men.

Almaguer said he wants to find Jesus Alfredo and other kidnapped men and arrest those responsible. However, prosecutors later clarified 6 people had been abducted, including El Chapo’s son, writes the Guardian.

“We have not received a single report from anyone to help locate these people who were (kidnapped)”, Almaguer said at the news conference.

“Earlier in the day, Almaguer had said authorities were trying to confirm whether another Guzman son, Ivan Archivaldo Guzman, was among those abducted”. Badillo told CNN the Guzman family contacted him Tuesday afternoon and told him that “the possibility of Ivan Archivaldo having been abducted is very high”.

Jalisco’s Attorney General had also said Archivaldo was among those kidnapped, though he eventually backpedaled on the claim.

Experts said before the news conference that Ivan Archivaldo Guzman had reportedly been running roughshod over allies in his father’s business.
