Kate del Castillo has finally broken her silence on the Sean Penn-El Chapo saga, saying, “many have decided to make up items that they think will make good stories and aren’t truthful”.
The statement comes after text messages obtained by a Mexican newspaper appear to indicate El Chapo had an infatuation with del Castillo.
The actress finally broke her silence on the matter Wednesday night when she tweeted a thank you to her allies for their support.
As for actor Sean Penn, Guzman didn’t seem to know who the Academy Award victor was, asking his lawyer in one message, “What was the actor’s name?” and later confessing to looking up Penn on the Internet. He later asks his lawyers to tell him what movies Penn has appeared in. But the federal official said that action had proved “very useful” in the hunt, suggesting it was part of the plan. Many expressed admiration and longing for the next meeting more than concern about the purported movie project.
“I am more excited about you than the [movie] script”, El Chapo told Del Castillo. “I will take better care of you than I do of my own eyes”.
Other texts show Castillo explaining to Guzmán that she has something in the works with Sean Penn.

“I have a thousand questions for Sean and all the other people involved”, said Rose. The drug lord also wanted a second meeting with her according to the official, who was not authorized to be quoted by name.
Del Castillo has not publicly commented on the meeting.
In the messages, even Guzman recognises that Mexican or U.S. intelligence officials were probably following or monitoring Del Castillo. The drug lord tells one of his lawyers in another chat, “the DEA has all her devices tapped, and at her house the DEA has cameras to see who visits her”, apparently referring to a women who was to meet with the actress.
Recaptured in Mazatlan on February 22, 2014, after more than 13 years as a fugitive, Guzman spent fewer than five months in custody before escaping again, this time through a long, well-lit tunnel dug by compatriots into the floor of his cell shower.

Mexican officials have said the meeting helped them track down Guzman, who was recaptured Friday following a bloody shooting with marines in the city of Los Mochis in Guzman’s home state of Sinaloa.
