“To clarify, seven armed subjects overpowered and kidnapped six people, six men who at the time were accompanied by approximately nine women”, who were not abducted and have not been located, Almaguer said earlier Tuesday.

The gang has assumed to be Jalisco New Generation cartel, a fairly new operation that has grown over the past five years.
Gunmen stormed a restaurant and kidnapped at least 10 people on Monday in the Mexican resort city of Puerto Vallarta.
The new information was revealed Tuesday morning by Jalisco’s Attorney General Eduardo Almaguer, Mexico’s Proceso Magazine revealed.
Puerto Vallarta is known for its large tourism industry.
Jalisco New Generation emerged in Puerto Vallarta in 2010 after the death of the local boss of the Sinaloa cartel, Ignacio “Nacho” Coronel.
They had been holidaying at the resort for a week and detectives found drinks and luxury items left behind inside the restaurant.
In a statement, the prosecutor’s office said it was investigating the incident, while Almaguer said he was trying to fully identify the men who were abducted.
“There is this presumption in that regard”, Almaguer said, citing witness testimony and analysis of the property of victims including vehicles.

Several reports indicated that those taken were members of a local gang. “To all residents as well as the tourists of Puerto Vallarta, I assure you that we have made efforts to reinforce security so that you can carry on with your usual activities”, Sandoval wrote.
