Mexican officials tracked Penn’s movements in secret, and have claimed that Penn, without knowing it, helped lead them to the head of the Sinaloa Cartel drug cartel.

The following day, Rolling Stone magazine published an article by Penn based on his interview with the drug boss. In the article and interview, Penn describes the complicated measures he took to meet the legendary drug lord.

Carols Barragan y Salvatierra, a professor of law at Mexico’s National University, said in a statement: “If during the dinner El Chapo gave them money, or jewels, or he gave them money for the movie or any other transaction, they could be charged with money laundering”.

Four days after the October 2 meeting with Penn, 25 Mexican Marines raided the ranch at around 10 am, Loret De Mola reported in a Tuesday broadcast from the hideout, code named “Mountain Nest”.

On Jan. 8, Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto announced that Guzman had been captured after a shootout in the city of Los Mochis, in his home state of Sinaloa.

Del Castillo responds in kind. Federal officials also said they had detected recent efforts to register “El Chapo Guzman” as a commercial trademark, possibly by the drug lords lawyers.“It was an ego project, to make the movie or meet Kate del Castillo, ” Hope noted.

Thousands more lives have been ruined by the drugs he has trafficked. “We very much regret the acts of any citizen who collaborates with organized crime, because many times drug traffickers have been stereotyped as people who have their good side, or who in some way do good things”.

“They try to be with family, and intelligence units take advantage of these contacts to find out where they are”, he said.

Guzman has also been photographed wearing another “Crazy Paisley” shirt from Barabas.

One of the world’s most-wanted criminals was returned to the same prison he escaped from six months ago when his henchmen dug a 1.5-kilometer (one-mile) tunnel that opened into a hole in his cell’s shower. But the federal official said that action had proved “very useful” in the hunt, suggesting it was part of the plan.

A government spokesman said Tuesday that Mexico was not directly investigating Penn or del Castillo but rather the circumstances around the meeting.

Hollywood A-lister Sean Penn and Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman have met previous year for an interview while the latter was free after escaping prison.

The extradition of El Chapo to the United States is still expected to take at least a year. However, while the actor is said to be wanted for questioning by Mexican authorities, it does not appear that the “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” star is in any legal jeopardy.

“With his dramatic capture, and, perhaps, the illusion of safe dealings now that El Chapo was locked up, the gringos were scrambling to tell his story”, Penn explained.

Deeply concerned that the world’s most notorious drug kingpin, Joaquin “Chapo” Guzman, could escape for a third time, Mexico has beefed up security at his prison, reinforcing the floor of his cell and placing a guard on his door 24/7.

While it is unclear where Guzman will be prosecuted, he was booked as prisoner #3870-AJ-08-01-16 at Altiplano, the same complex he escaped from in July.
