The world’s most powerful drug trafficker was wearing two shirts from his store in downtown Los Angeles, called Barabas.

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman is the head of a drug cartel that is directly and indirectly responsible for the murder of thousands of Mexicans.

The in-demand shirts are featured on the company’s Facebook page where they are referred to as the Barabas “El Chapo” Shirts and “Most Wanted”.

The bright blue and gray collared shirt with stripes and designs can be seen in the photo posted in a controversial Rolling Stone article by Penn in which the Hollywood actor and director describes a meeting with the drug lord in the Mexican jungle. The shirt, which Guzman wore to meet with noted journalist Sean Penn has become an internet sensation.

It’s not the kingpin’s “soiled tank top look” that’s garnering attention, as Slate points out, but his silk button-downs, made by Barabas, a Los Angeles-based store that apparently has no problem profiting off this kind of fame. We’ll leave that to you to judge.

“It’s been insane. People are calling on the phone off the hook, they want both shirts and they want other styles of our shirts as well”, he added.

According to the company, they had already been popular prior to El Chapo’s fashion choice.

When he was captured, Rolling Stone released a photo of Penn and Chapo shaking hands, with Chapo wearing a garish striped shirt.

Barabas’ slogan is: Good Words, Good Thoughts, Good Deeds. Despite El Chapo’s criminal reputation, Esteghbal isn’t bothered by the association.
