Because Wolfram suffers from dementia and lymphoma he requires a higher level of care than his wife, which made it it hard to find a place where the couple could live together.

It was only when their granddaughter, Ashley, posted a heartbreaking image of them to Facebook in August did their real suffering become apparent.

The couple’s granddaughter, Ashley Kaila Bartyik, said in a Facebook post, “Wolfram has finally been moved to the same facility as Anita at the residene at Morgan Heights”.

The Gottschalks thanked the Fraser Health Authority for bringing the pair together, but noted there are other couples waiting in similar situations in the province.

They are the crying Canadian couple forced to live in separate nursing facilities after 62 years of marriage, whose photo made headlines across the world.

The family would take her on a 30-minute drive every other day to visit, but said the distance was still taking a toll on both of them.

They appear overcome with emotion and share a kiss, ecstatic to be back in each other’s arms.

Wolfram Gottschalk has been moved into the same seniors’ care home where his wife Anita is living, nine months after they were separated.

After months of campaigning to get the pair moved to the same home, Wolf, who suffers from dementia and was recently diagnosed with cancer, was reunited with Anita on Thursday.

“The reunion saw tears of joy for all involved, ” she says in the statement. The family feared his memory of Anita would fade faster the longer they were apart.
