Election Commission orders probe into Kushwaha ‘sting operation’
Bihar minister Awadhesh Kushwaha resigned after he was allegedly caught in a sting operation.

The video sting shows Kushwaha accepting Rs 4 lakhs as bribe from a businessman to promote his business interest after JD (U) was voted to power in Bihar assembly elections.
The sting operation video which surfaced late on Sunday evening clearly showed Mr Kushwaha receiving money from a businessman promising to support him after the formation of the government.
The two RJD candidates allegedly caught accepting bribe were former minister Mundrika Singh Yadav who is in fray from Jehanabad constituency and Subedar Das from Makhdampur who has been pitched against former CM and HAM-S chief Jitan Ram Manjhi.
Yadav went on to add: “Party believes that the sting operation is true”.
The party would announce the new candidate in a couple of days.JD(U) national president Sharad Yadav said, “We called a meeting just after we knew about the case”. In the video, he is also seen saying that contesting in an election nowadays cost between Rs 1.5 to 2 crore.
“Nitish Kumar’s tall claims of fighting corruption have been exposed”. When the video went viral on social media, Mr. Nitish Kumar asked Mr. Kushwaha to resign.

The Election Commission while monitoring the ongoing polling in the 49 constituencies on Monday said, “Concerned district magistrates will submit a report on the matter soon”. “I requested the chief minister that as I am a senior minister I can not continue in office in the wake of such serious allegations”, he said.
