“I have obtained a detailed report on the two Indian nationals Sai Srinivas and Anish Sharma who have been abducted in Nigeria”.

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup had on Friday described the abduction as “nothing surprising or new in that area”, saying such incidents keep happening there.

Stating that no ransom demand has been made, the spokesperson added: “There is nothing to show that the abductors were from the Boko Haram group and perhaps local criminal elements are involved”. “I assured her that we are doing everything to secure their release”, the minister posted. “I called up the officials of the Plant this morning and they informed me about the kidnapping”, she said. Srinivas, a civil engineer was working for Dangote cement plant in Gboko town. Sushma spoke to Srinivas’ wife Lalita over phone, and assured her of all help from the government to ensure the safe release of her husband and his colleague. Srinvas and Anish Shara were travelling in the last car and the two car in front of their vehicle were just passing a signal when a group of men surrounded the car, dragged the driver out and kidnapped the two Indians.
