Eli Manning, Giants ready for shootout vs. Drew Brees, Saints

The Jaguars released a statement Tuesday afternoon that said Ivory was doing well. With Breaux now gone, the Saints will rely on a collection of projects and misfits, starting with Ken Crawley, a first-year undrafted free agent cornerback out of Colorado and veterans Sterling Moore and B.W. Webb, whom they signed as free agents. These two players are the main threats the Saints have to offer in the passing game, so it is extremely important that Janoris Jenkins and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie do their jobs and maintain these two young receivers.

It was reminiscent of some of the performances the Saints put up in 2011, when Carmichael was essentially forced into play-calling duties by a fluke injury to Sean Payton, who broke his leg when caught up in a tackle along the sideline at Tampa Bay in the sixth game of that season.

By bringing back Evans, the Saints essentially stuck with the same offensive line they had in 2015, except that this time Peat appears to be entrenched at left guard right from the start.

“We have to be better in that area (rushing the passer), and sometimes it’s going to come from more than a four-man rush – or a pressure”, coach Sean Payton said. “I’m not going to lie to you”, Smith said.

“That was another one of many a year ago where I thought we had a great chance to win a football game and couldn’t quite figure out how to win it”, Manning said.

In last year’s meeting, Brees threw for 505 yards and tied an National Football League record with seven touchdown passes, in outdueling Manning, who passed for 350 yards and a career-high six touchdowns. Lasco was in on 19 special teams plays. Richard scored on a 75-yard touchdown run on his first carry in the NFL. In fact, the entire passing offense could be. Having Manning with talented weapons around him should be a recipe for a big day.

Beckham did not know much about Williams, and said he needed to spend more time studying him. The cap space came when Drew Brees signed his one-year extension.

“I said, ‘Hey, you’ve got to own up to that, ‘” Del Rio said.

Saints-related questions are always welcome, but the chat will be joined by special guest, Giants beat writer Dan Duggan of NJ Advance Media, to respond to Giants-related questions.

Defensive tackle Damon Harrison and end Olivier Vernon are new, and end Jason Pierre-Paul did not play a year ago because of his fireworks accident. They’re focus is all about taking on the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

“It was just back and forth”, Beckham recalled. So we’ve got a new offense. It’s a different mentality.
