Elizabeth Warren Endorses Hillary Clinton On MSNBC

In one day, Democratic stars lined up for Clinton, who claimed the Democratic presidential nomination on Tuesday night and now has powerful surrogates – in addition to her husband, former President Bill Clinton – to make the case against Trump.

The Vermont senator kept up his fiery campaign rhetoric outside Washington’s Robert F. Kennedy Stadium on Thursday evening, just hours after meeting with President Barack Obama about the sustainability of his continuing White House bid. Even President Obama has weaknesses with those who supported Sanders.

Obama, who enjoys strong approval ratings after almost eight years in office, will campaign with Clinton next week in Wisconsin, her campaign said. “I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office”, Obama said. “That’s why I know Hillary will be so good at it”, he said.

On Tuesday Mrs Clinton secured enough delegates to become the Democratic nominee.

Sanders met Obama in White House on Thursday.

It’s the latest sign of Democrats shifting toward the general election against Republican Donald Trump.

Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump tweeted that Mr Obama’s endorsement means he wants “four more years of Obama” and “nobody else does”.

Democrats are wary that divisions that emerged between Clinton and Sanders during the primaries might spill out during next month’s Democratic National Convention or provide an opening to Trump, who is on course to become the Republican nominee. (See Season 1 of “Veep.”) Given Warren’s reputation – and the way she has treated the primary process thus far – there are no doubt questions within the Clinton orbit about whether she would be willing and able to play second banana both on the campaign trail and in the White House if the ticket wins. We no longer need to rally behind mantras such as “vote blue no matter who”, because we know that path is a risky one and hands all power back to the Democrats by saying we will simply do whatever they want.

“And a lot of that is thanks to Senator Bernie Sanders, who has run an incredible campaign”, Obama continued.

Warren was the only holdout among the Senate’s Democratic women and, given her stature among liberals, her endorsement was seen as a potentially important boost for Clinton.

In the interview with Reuters, Clinton said her overall economic package, including plans to rein in Wall Street and cut taxes for the middle class, would come during the first 100 days of her presidency if she defeats Trump.

The speech was her first policy address since securing the Democratic nomination and indicated she would continue pressing forward on the progressive women’s rights issues she championed in the primary.
