Ellen DeGeneres caught whim of the story and enlisted the help of Justin Bieber to announce what her team is calling ‘her most generous giveaway ever. “Almost all of their technology does not work, their entire roof is falling apart, their gym is completely shut down, forcing students to take PE in the hallways”.

In the clip, Ellen video-chats with some of the staff – while the students cheer and jump around in the background – and surprises them with $100 Visa gift cards from Lowe’s.

So, in typical Ellen fashion, she partnered up with Lowe’s and donated $500,000 to the school. The segment will air in metro Detroit today at 3 p.m. on WDIV-TV (Channel 4).

DeGeneres said she’s starting a GoFundMe campaign – we’ve created a widget that allows you to give right now – that will help the school with future needs. DeGeneres praised Bieber for taking the time to help her because of his busy schedule, but it looks like Bieber wants to exemplify the lyrics of his song “Children”. In addition, $50,000 will go for new technology and $200,000 for services. And even though they’re a performing arts school, they don’t have money to hire full-time arts, music, or dance teachers.

Additionally, Justin Bieber announced that $1 from every ticket sold to his April 25 concert at The Palace of Auburn Hills will go to the school.
