“We couldn’t do the things we do on the court without fans like you”, said Lowry, while Forbes held back tears. “You’re an inspiration, Sam. To so many people watching right now, you’re a huge inspiration”.

Inspired by his story, DeGeneres invited the 17-year-old to her talk show, along with his boss, Chris Ali. Forbes has autism and dancing helps him concentrate on his work while channeling his jerky movements into productivity. “Me too”, Ellen replied during their conversation. When Ellen asked what it meant to Sam when he was hired at Starbucks, the Dancing Barista welled up with tears.

“In that moment my life changed, my whole world changed”, said Sam during his interview with Ellen.

Of course with Ellen, there are lots of surprises!

Since he was four, Sam said he dreamed of travelling to Japan.

DeGeneres was talking about employers hiring people with disabilities or, more specifically, autism – the request came as internet sensation and dancing barista Sam appeared on her show. First, a custom tip jar – complete with an Ellen cutout – was brought out for Forbes.

Chris got a surprise video message from Toronto Raptors DeMar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry, and the team’s general manager Masai Ujiri.
