The news comes just days after Ellie had to pull out of two shows in Australia on her “Delirium World Tour”, one in Adelaide on October 10 and one in Perth on October 12, due to “an unforeseen scheduling conflict”. “I don’t cancel anything unless I really need to, but my doctor said, ‘Ellie, your voice is going to burn out”.

Her next scheduled performance is on July 31 in Chicago as her tour continues.

“Am sorry that I had to cancel this weekends festivals”, she wrote.

The star was set to belt out her dance pop tunes at two events in Latvia and Finland this weekend.

Ellie spoke to the Standard at Working Title Pictures in Fitzrovia, where she hosted a private screening of environmental documentary Racing Extinction. Because of ill-health I’ve been advised to not travel or perform.

Asked at the time if she hoped to rekindle the relationship she said: “We have something I know is special and I think other people see it – my friends see it, my family see it”. “My doctor advised I didn’t do anything for the next few weeks, but this screening room is less than a mile from my house and I don’t have to sing … and this is a matter of saving the planet”.

Her followers’ sense of understanding for her stressed out state was clear and one added: “Your health is way more important!”

Also in attendance was her ex-boyfriend Dougie Poynter, who she split from a couple of months ago after an on-off relationship.

The documentary highlights the impact global warming is having on many species and is directed by Oscar-winning activist Louie Psihoyos.
