Elon Musk refuses to answer Stephen Colbert’s simple question: “Are you a”
“The fast way”, Musk said, straight-faced, “is to drop thermonuclear weapons over the poles”. Colbert exclaimed. “Superman doesn’t say, ‘let’s drop thermonuclear bombs, ‘ that’s Lex Luthor!”

“You’re a supervillain!” Colbert shouted. But first, Musk needs to be able to get astronauts up to the worldwide Space Station, and then have the rockets return home to do it again.
That’s right, Elon Musk wants to nuke Mars.
Sort of like what we’ve been doing on earth for the last couple hundred years but faster and with more incredible explosions.
Of course, the viability of such a plan is probably a bit more questionable than say, bringing frozen methane to Mars from neighboring planets or moons, or better yet, bringing cyanobacteria and algae that are capable of producing oxygen to the Red Planet. In the interview, Colbert and Musk were reported to have good chemistry. “Not to explode”. But first “The Late Show” host and the electric-car pioneer had to get over an awkward encounter in the present.
“The computers kept crashing”, Colbert said, according to Variety. “In the world, there’s so much despair; there’s people throwing up their hands at the problems of the world that can’t be solved”.
But Musk shared his belief that Mars could one day become a habitable planet for humans.
Or Ironman, but you know, same difference.

On Wednesday, Colbert welcomed Elon Musk, who proves to be quite an entertaining guest (would we expect anything different?). It’s wonderful to see someone talk about space exploration in such casual terms, and when it’s a billionaire like Musk, you can’t help but take him seriously. But even Musk admitted that the slithery movement of the robot is somewhat disconcerting, saying, “This looks a little wrong”. “I would recommend not dropping anything when you’re near it”.
