Elvis memorabilia brings big buck at auction

Here are eight odd things you can buy at Graceland’s big Elvis auction.
Originally released in 1956, a pair of canvas Elvis Presley sneakers will hit the auction block in like-new condition complete with their original packaging.

Selling price: $27,500.
However, given the sheer number of pieces – much of it mass-marketed merchandise from the 1950s – there were deals to be had. Other items, some even personalized by Presley, failed to generate any bids. Another ceremony is planned Thursday at the Elvis Presley Birthplace in Tupelo, Mississippi. The black and white stamp shows an image of the young Elvis back in 1955 and features his signature and the word “Forever, ‘ in gold”. “We emphasize that this is not us selling anything, it’s [EPE] trying to bring a credibility to the marketplace”.
