Elway: No pressure on Manning to make decision

Added Newton: “I have said it since Day 1”. So, if that’s the case, Newton might show his naysayers a different “Superman” next year. Many stopped to listen as Newton addressed the media. There are times it has taken him more than an hour before addressing the media. “All 53 guys on the roster helped us win the Super Bowl”. And I don’t blame him for walking out of the press conference after hearing Chris Harris Jr. crowing about what Denver’s defense did to Newton and the passing game.

Peyton says Manning’s Super Bowl win was overwhelming. Mike Tolbert hopped up on a trash can to watch the interview, while Greg Olsen and others changed “We love you Cam!”

Teammates rallied behind Newton on Tuesday.

Denver Broncos general manager John Elway said Tuesday Peyton Manning will not be pressured into a quick decision over his future, hinting that the quarterback may still have a role with the franchise if he plays on.

The Broncos also asked him to take a pay cut – the first such request of his career – and they eventually agreed on a $4 million reduction, from $20 million to $16 million.

Carolina coach Ron Rivera praised Newton for setting the record straight and stuck up for his star player, calling criticism of Newton’s walk out “unfair”.

The sentimental crowd favorite was Manning, who at age 39 became the oldest quarterback to win a Super Bowl and who many observers believe will retire on top of the football world. “I am my own person”.

Cam wrapped the questions with another message to those who criticize him.

However, after reflecting and paying attention to the comments from critics and some athletes, Newton wondered, “Who are you to say that your way so right?“. “Because your or anybody else’s expectations will never exceed mine”.

Shaun King of the New York Daily News noted Manning’s Super Bowl XLIV loss to the Saints in 2010: “With time still remaining on the clock, Peyton did something that Cam Newton would have been absolutely skewered for – he left the field”.
