The 31-year-old has spent three years as a Sunderland player after moving from Juventus.
“Sunderland AFC midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini has completed a permanent transfer to Italian side SSC Napoli for an undisclosed fee”.
Giaccherini was put under the spotlight when now Chelsea boss Antonio Conte made him an integral part of the Italy side which took part in Euro 16.
The Italy global has always been expected to leave the Stadium of Light this summer, although his impressive performances at Euro 2016 in France over the summer had led to some questioning whether he could stay on Wearside, having spent much of last season on loan at Bologna.
“I’ve come at an important time to a prestigious club and I am delighted to wear this shirt”, Giaccherini said, according to the official website of Napoli.
Giaccherini joined Sunderland from Juventus in 2013 under the regime of director of football Roberto de Fanti and head coach Paolo Di Canio, but he failed to make an impression in his first two seasons in the Premier League.
“I can’t wait to start my new adventure with Napoli”.
