EMC to be title sponsor of Boston playoff event in 2017
The Boston-headquartered company, which replaces outgoing partner Deutsche Bank, began supporting the PGA Tour event in 2003 as a “Founders Club” partner and later as a local presenting sponsor. He tied for second in his title defense, closing with a 65 to finish three strokes behind Vijay Singh, and has three other top-10 results and a total of seven in the top 20 in 10 starts on the course. It has been a while since he won back-to-back Tour titles in late February/early March, but he’s coming off a tie for fourth at The Barclays. Earlier this year, he pulled out of the U.S. Open for the same reason and then won the BMW International Open the following week in Germany.

EMC Corporation will take over title sponsorship from Deutsche Bank, though the new official name of the event at TPC Boston has yet to be announced.
“We are very pleased to introduce EMC as the incoming title sponsor”, said PGA Tour deputy commissioner Jay Monahan.
Here’s a name you always should look for at TPC Boston.
Rickie Fowler is the tournament’s defending champion.
Cejka’s stuation is the more cut and dried of the two – he’s been struggling with a lower back injury and was forced to withdraw from The Barclays last week.
The PGA Tour’s younger set has used the FedEx Cup Playoffs as a showcase. Reed is ranked No. 1 in FedEx Cup points and No. 9 in the world entering this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship in MA. Fowler also had a top-10 finish at The Barclays last week, although he faltered late. He has missed the cut only once in his 17 PGA Tour events this season, and he has made the top 25 an awesome 15 times. The last two Americans to win the Deutsche Bank Championship during Ryder Cup years were not selected for the team – Charley Hoffman in 2010 and Chris Kirk in 2014.
