Emergency as 27 pupils collapse at school

EMERGENCY SERVICES ARE attending a school in North Yorkshire, England after a number of students collapsed and others became mysteriously ill.

About 27 students have become ill at a school in Yorkshire, with a few of them collapsing and being taken to hospital, according to police.

At least 27 pupils have displayed signs of sickness and feeling faint.

The incident is believed to have happened between 11am and 11.30am.

SEVERAL pupils have been taken to hospital after collapsing at Outwood Academy in Ripon.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said specialist hazardous materials officers are at the school.

The Outwood Academy Ripon School is working with fire and ambulance services to try and determine what caused the incident.

“A number of students have been affected who have displayed signs of sickness and feeling faint”.

On its website the school states it was judged “good” in its most recent Ofsted inspection in 2012.
