Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said at a press conference that separate shooting incidents occurred close to each other early Sunday morning.

About half an hour later police said there were “separate shootings within the same area”.

Manley said that one woman, who is believed to be in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CNN.

There are multiple victims with gunshot wounds at 208 E. Sixth St., EMS says. It was not immediately clear how many people were shot. There was a second shooting reported seven minutes later on the 800 block of Trinity Street, inside a parking garage. Austin Police has said they can not give a definite description of what McCray was last seen wearing. “Stay away from downtown”, Austin police tweeted.

Dozier said his friends also walked by the scene of the second incident.

Officials with the Austin Police Department say there is an active shooting incident downtown and there are multiple victims.

In a department briefing, Austin Police said they are “actively looking” for a suspected shooter they believe to be a man, adding they are now interviewing multiple suspects in connection with a shooting that occurred at 2:17 a.m. local time.

Police said the gunman is still at large, but they have identified a person of interest.

Police believe the incident began as a disturbance when one of the people involved pulled out a gun and began shooting into the crowd.

Sam Vedamanikam, 26, told Austin’s Statesman newspaper he and several friends were walking to their auto when four or five shots rang out. “We were 15-20 yards above Sixth Street on San Jacinto”, he said in a phone interview. “A lot of people running in different directions with all the gunshots coming out”. No one was injured, and nearby individuals disarmed the suspect, who was injured and transported to a hospital.
