Emily Blunt in talks to play Mary Poppins in Disney’s planned sequel
Late previous year, we heard that Emily Blunt was being eyed for the titular role in Disney’s Mary Poppins reboot.

Last September brought the news that Disney was reviving one of their most iconic characters with a new incarnation of Mary Poppins, the beloved children’s book character immortalized on the big screen by the inimitable Julie Andrews.
Alas, there is one scheduling obstacle which could keep Blunt from jumping into the role as the magical nanny-her second pregnancy, which Variety reports may [understandably!] play into her decision.
The Mary Poppins sequel will be directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Marc Platt and John DeLuca, the team that Emily previously worked with on Disney’s movie musical Into the Woods.
Rob Marshall (Into the Woods, Chicago) is directing the film which sounds like it’s going to be something of a reimagining/sequel. Scripting the film is Life of Pi writer David Magee, with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman writing the songs. According to the outlet’s sources, the film will take place in Depression-era London, 20 years after the first film. The sequel will revolve around a now-grown Michael Banks, who has children of his own.
