Emily Blunt Tells Jimmy Kimmel: I Passed My American Citizenship Test!
Emily Blunt became a US citizen in August 2015. “I like being British”. “John was there, I said, ‘John did you enjoy the whole ceremony?’ he said, ‘I did, I was doing the best I could not to stand next to McConaughey in that courtroom and go: “All rise all rise all rise”.’ And that’s all he was thinking about”.

Blunt tripped up when she appeared on pal Jimmy Kimmel’s late night chat show in America on Tuesday (08Sep15) by failing to answer his simple questions about USA culture. “We [as Americans] always get the sense that when people come here from England, they kind of look down their noses at us”.
You can see Blunt tell the whole story in the video below and continue watching as Kimmel tests her knowledge of American culture.
The day took a weird turn for Emily when Matthew McConaughey arrived to support his wife Camila Alves, who was also being sworn in. She said it felt freakish, but she can sleep easy, because she now holds dual citizenship in both the United Kingdom and U.S. “I like being British!”
Blunt also revealed some questions she was asked during the background check, such as “Are you a habitual drunkard?” “It was the most freakish day”. Or “have you ever been a prostitute?”
The actress may have passed the real test, but her knowledge about everyday Americans could use some brushing up!
