Emily Middlemas returns to X Factor for another shot at live shows

Her kind comments came shortly after she took a swipe at the show’s Mr Nasty and quipped: “Unfortunately I didn’t get to meet you a few years ago – because Simon didn’t have me back”.

The single mum from Tanworth in Warwickshire had a record deal aged 17 but was dropped from her label and is looking forward to second chance at chart success.

Meanwhile Simon revealed he was pleased Emily had given the show a second go.

“I think I’ve begun to know who Emily is – and I think I like you more”.

Elsewhere in “The X Factor, ‘ 39-year-old Rebecca Ryan got four yeses after she wowed the judges with a moving rendition of Sarah McLachlan’s 1997 hit ‘In The Arms of An Angel”.

One wrote: “OMG this girl is on”, followed by three fire Emoji icons.

The X Factor was still the biggest show of the night, beating off competition from BBC One’s special Casualty episode celebrating its 30th anniversary.

ITV may have brought back Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh, and Dermot O’Leary for The X Factor, but that wasn’t enough to bring back viewers.

It’s spin-off show “The Xtra Factor Live”, which is now being broadcast live from the start of the series, was watched by 809,000 viewers with an audience peak of 942,000.
