Emirates flight makes emergency landing in Mumbai

An Emirates plane from Dubai to Maldives Tuesday made an emergency landing in Indian city of Mumbai, following detection of smoke in its cabin, local media reports said.

Emirates Airlines released an official statement on the emergency landing.

All passengers and crew have been evacuated out of the main cabin and are reported to be safe.

The Boeing 777-300 flight EK-652 landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport amid full emergency measures in place around 2 p.m.

Ambulances and emergency services greeted the plane as it landed at the airport. The aircraft landed and passengers safely disembarked. The aircraft’s scheduled departure from Dubai was at 9.50 am it was to land Male at 3.05 pm.

It was an worldwide flight operating on the Dubai-Male sector. The flight was carrying 309 passengers onboard. The on-going flight has been delayed.
