Emirates plane fire: Passengers scream inside during Dubai crash landing

All 300 people on board the plane, including 24 British passengers, escaped the plane without injury.

Dubai International is the world’s busiest airport and more than 20 outgoing flights had to be cancelled because of the crash, Emirates said. The airline reported 226 people from India, 24 from the UK, 11 from the United Arab Emirates, six from the USA and two from Australia among the 282 passengers and 18 crew on board.

According to the Dubai Media Office, all flights departing from Dubai International Airport have been delayed until further notice, after an Emirates plane reportedly crash landed on the runway.

Video posted online shows black smoke billowing from what looked like an Emirates jetliner lying on its belly on the runway.

The Boeing B 777-300 plane which was involved in the accident was 13 years old.

The spokesperson added that they were working with the immigration department and Dubai Police to assist passengers with issues relating to visa expiries and lost passports.

Planemaker Boeing said in a statement it was monitoring the situation in Dubai and it would be working with Emirates to gather more information.

There are delays at the airport, as well as across Emirates flights, following the emergency landing.

The two minutes long video shows chaos and panic among the passengers as the crew members of the aircraft carried out emergency evacuation. Al Maktoum worldwide is located an hour’s drive away from Dubai global Airport.

In addition to the Thais, onboard were 226 people from India, 24 from Britain, 11 from the Emirates, six from Saudi Arabia and the USA, five from Turkey and four from Ireland.

There were 282 passengers and 18 crew on board.

“The main priority remains with those involved and offering support to concerned family and friends”. It confirmed that “all passengers and crew are accounted for and safe”, but gave no details of what went wrong.
