It added that full flight schedule for local carriers like the state-owned Emirates and foreign airliners would not be resumed to usual airport operations within the next 48 hours.
“Our flights to & from Dubai are cancelled for the day”, IndiGo said in a tweet.
Similarly, arrival of flights from Dubai was also delayed by almost two to six hours.
“In addition, Jet Airways will re-route two Dubai bound flights to Sharjah and is awaiting slot approval from Sharjah Airport to re-route four additional flights”, the airline said in a statement.
A spokesperson from Lufthansa, “While the event did cause delays throughout the airport by up to eight hours, Lufthansa confirms that all schedules for flights in and out of Dubai have been restored”. “In total, over 23,000 Emirates passengers were impacted by the disruption”.
“(In all) 23 flights were diverted to alternative airports – Sharjah, Al Maktoum International (DWC), Fujairah, Al Ain, Muscat and Bahrain.
“Emirates flights to China are delayed today, but none of the flight is cancelled”, said one sales executive at the Emirates ticket desk at the airport’s terminal three. We can confirm that there are no fatalities among our passengers and crew.
More information on Emirates flights will be available on the Emirates website and social media channels. The fire was extinguished at 14:32 local time (1032 GMT) on Wednesday, according to Emirates chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum.

The passenger jet was carrying 275 people, including the crew members. This was due to unavailability of runway at Dubai airport, said airport sources. Both the Captain and the First Officer have over seven thousand hours of flying experience each.
