Emma Makes ‘Gut-Wrenching Choice’ In Battle
Then again, I probably wouldn’t be as positive on “The Bear King” if we’d had to wait seven days for it, especially considering the massive cliffhanger that ended “Birth” (what IS it with shows having episodes that end on huge cliffhangers, that are then followed up with episodes that have nothing to do with the cliffhanger waiting to be resolved?). He escapes through the back of the tent into the woods. While learning the shocking truth about what Emma did to save Hook was satisfying, it could have been done in fifteen minutes.

♦ King Fergus, it turns out, had switched helmets before heading into battle, opting not to use magic to protect his kingdom. Instead, she knocks him away with her magic.
Kitsis: As you have found out, they have a past history together, and Merida is going to find a few trouble in her kingdom where she’s going to need to rely upon an old friend for help, which is Mulan. But Emma’s not ready to give out answers just yet. She tells him that Nimue doesn’t matter anymore and that all of this will be over tomorrow.
That’s not a good enough answer for Hook. “I did know that everything she was doing was to save Hook from the beginning”.
Back in Storybrooke, Hook realized what Emma had done. Episode 8, which will be the first hour of the special, is titled Birth, and centers on the conflict between Arthur (Liam Garrigan) and Emma (Jennifer Morrison). Going into this episode, Emma has all that she needs to get rid of the darkness. Entertainment Weekly reports: “A surprising face will provide Hook with his lost memories from Camelot, but he’ll discover that it’s not Emma he should be mad at”.
Hook attempts to seek out Emma, but Emma doesn’t want to see him. That makes the pirate resort to a desperate measure – jumping off of the clock tower. Emma appears and saves him from falling to his death.
“I love you, Emma Swan”, he says. So, why can’t she light it?
Henry (Jared S. Gilmore) tries to encourage her by telling her about Operation Light Swan. It turns out that Hook was searching for a house in Storybrooke that the two could move into together. Henry gave her hope.
Emma tricks the king into thinking that she ignited the flame.
We’ve also learned that Zelena’s (Rebecca Mader) pregnancy “accelerates”.
Hook later questions a now-imprisoned Arthur, but he tells them nothing.
Meanwhile in Storybrooke, something is happening with Zelena.
“So for us, we’ve always wanted to take them from icon to a real couple”, Kitsis said. Although they’ve been though many hardships, she tells him that she’s nearly there.
Back in Camelot, Emma had the spark of Prometheus, all she needed was the sword.
After Emma’s latest bout with dark magic, Regina wanted to get to the root of why Emma couldn’t give it up.
Kitsis: This is more about Mulan’s journey moving forward.
The episode ends with Hook chained up in Emma’s basement with Zelena. “I do want a future with you”, she made clear, to which Hook assured her, “There’s nothing to be afraid of”. Was it Zelena because she’s out of her mind and completely wicked? Zelena had a girl, and Emma showed up. Still, Hook insists that Merlin can help them.
How long will they stick around this season? . Emma wasn’t going to let the love of her life die. “So, we’re wondering, if she has everything she needs to get the darkness out of her, what changed?” Hook begged her to unite the blades, even if it meant losing his life. But when Emma successfully gets Merlin to fight against the darkness Arthur is using to control him, Arthur ends up on the defensive. Ultimately, Hook came to their rescue, but he was cut by Excalibur in the process, which has unforeseen consequences. Hook suffered a nasty cut from the sword, but Emma healed him. All we need is the flashbacks to tell us how Hook was killed, and why he’s still alive in our time.
She wants to put her foot down and say, ‘No, this is the guy, I don’t want to lose this one. There was talk of, when the ice wall came down she was on the other side as a wolf and goes “no one was looking for me?!” but we’re gonna explain where she’s been and why she hasn’t been on the show for the a year ago.
“I’m so sorry but I did not have a choice”, she tells him after he learns what happened.
But Hook doesn’t seem willing to accept an apology. What’s it like to write that character as Mr. Gold, but a Mr. Gold without the Dark One present?

“So much for our future”, he tells her.
