Emmanuel Mudiay: Goes 7th to Nuggets

Lawson’s name has been linked to the Sacramento Kings in recent days given the DeMarcus Cousins/George Karl debacle.

The selection of two point guards may signal the end of the Ty Lawson era in Denver.

Well it seems at least one person is definitely buying into the Lawson trade rumors: Lawson himself.

On Thursday night, Mudiay will be living his dream when the highly touted 19-year-old prospect will take the stage at Barclays Center for the real NBA draft. For a player who attacks and gets to the basket as often as he did, did not get to the line at a great rate, which will be something that will be crucial to his success in the NBA…

His jump shot needs to improve, and it’s hard to get a read on his defense because nobody plays any in China.

When you look at the new breed of point guards like Russell Westbrook, Damian Lillard and Kyrie Irving, Mudiay could be cut from that mold given his freakish athleticism. After the scene was posted, it quickly became as made-ya-look popular as the Kardashians, which again reminded us Lawson is more adept at breaking Twitter than breaking ankles off the dribble. I’m not sure exactly what he learned in China or how that is going to translate to the NBA game, but he does have a good mentor in Mike Malone.

Last year, Mudiay committed to play with legendary coach Larry Brown at Southern Methodist University.

“There’s something cool and innocent about how out of touch with fashion NBA draft suits were just 12 or 13 years ago”, says Will Welch, style editor of GQ. His shooting can be suspect but the Nuggets do not need their point guard to be a shooter.

The Nuggets used their second round pick to take the Serbian point guard. Both of those players would be a stretch at No. 7. They selected Emmanuel Mudiay in the first round, with the seventh-overall pick.

Kevin: I think people are looking into the injury of Mudiay more than they should. Denver still needs a lot of help but Mudiay should be a player they can build around.
