Emmy Awards 2016: Matt Damon taunts Jimmy Kimmel onstage

The show kicked off with host Jimmy Kimmel trying to get a ride to the show any way he can. And for the most part, the combination of solid choices and playful moments made for a reasonably good, occasionally aggravating evening.

Kimmel and Corden decide to tackle Jitterbug.

It wasn’t bad, it was just pointless. As the USA presidential election draws near, television’s stars didn’t hold back on their opinions at today’s Emmy awards, some taking jabs at Republican nominee Donald Trump while others voiced support for Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton.

Kimmel’s trip to reach the Emmys also included a white Ford Bronco and a dragon from Game of Thrones, among other forms of transportation. “That’s a bummer. It makes a lot of sense, but you must be really bummed out”. “There’s an after-party?” asked Kimmel in a dejected voice.

Sarah Paulson, who played Clark in the highly popular FX series and who brought the real-life Clark as her date, was not pleased. Sure, we celebrated the best of the best in the past year of television, but Kimmel hosting was absolutely incredible as host, nailing just about every joke he laid out. I see a bunch of them right here.

“Modern Family” star Julie Bowen and Matt LeBlanc announced Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang as the victor for Best Comedy Series Writing for the Netflix series “Master of None” – another surprise win.

Later, after Mark Burnett accepted the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition, Kimmel joked, “That Emmy is going on the hood of Trump’s limousine, isn’t it?”

How dare Kimmel insult the dowager countess? So they went to Louie. Matt Damon waltzed out onto the stage to troll and openly mock Kimmel for losing the award. How many times do you think she’s showed up here to get the Emmy. “This time she had a Sunday ceramics class she couldn’t get out of”. In his opening monologue, Kimmel raked the presidential candidate over the coals and blamed Trump’s reality TV series “The Celebrity Apprentice” for his rise to prominence. But television can also tear us apart.

A joke about how Mark Burnett was responsible for Donald Trump being the Republican presidential candidate was mostly amusing because of how little Mark Burnett was insulted by the intended insult. No, he would be at home right now quietly rubbing up against his wife, Malaria, while she pretends to be asleep.
