Jeffrey Tambor and Rami Malek also took home awards, and the big victor was the FX miniseries “The People vs. O.J. Simpson”, which will get it’s own article. It was the third time she has received the award for her role in the hit period drama.

“Oh, my God. Please tell me you’re seeing this too”, said a stunned Malek, who plays an emotionally troubled engineer caught up in a risky hacking conspiracy. “GoT” actresses Emilia Clarke and Lena Headey also lost to “Downton Abbey’s” Maggie Smith for the Outstanding Supporting Actress award.

Tatiana Maslany finally was acknowledged for her role on Orphan Black which one of her characters is a lesbian picking up the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Other great wins for the night came when Regina King won her second Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress for American Crime Story, and she could hardly believe it.

Game of Thrones, which went into Sunday’s show with a leading 23 nominations, won a total of 12 Emmys, including for directing and writing. Still, the actors went home empty handed.

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” broke the records for the highest number of Emmy awards won by any fictional series. After The Voice won an Emmy for Best Reality Show, Burnett commented that Hillary Clinton called to say he gave Trump five minutes of free advertising on ABC. As mentioned Damon Wayans stopped by as a presenter and ended creating an iconic moment as he took to the stage to present the award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.

The award ceremonies are often long, so host Jimmy Kimmel has his mother whip up some PB&J sandwiches to tide over the audience. Light & Tambor both talked about the importance of using their celebrity to make change for LGBT & gender equality stating, “What is most important is that lives are being saved”.
