Emmys bring in all-time low ratings for ABC

“Game of Thrones” has now won more Emmy Awards than any other fictional show with 38 total awards. After charming everyone on the red carpet, the cast showed up on bicycles to help Kimmel distribute sandwiches to the starving actors and actresses-because many “haven’t eaten since Labor Day”, after all.

Jeb Bush made a cameo during the opening segment. Kimmel’s conversation on race relations in the industry was quite hilarious.

Were it not for Trump having been hired to host “Celebrity Apprentice”, he wouldn’t now be running for president, Kimmel declared.

“Saturday Night Live” comedian Kate McKinnon, who plays Democratic U.S. presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, won supporting comedy actress, and John Oliver’s biting “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” won the Emmy for variety talk series.

Netflix won nine Emmys including best documentary for “Making a Murderer” and best comedy writing for “Master of None”. “There’s 17 million Asian-Americans in this country, and there’s 17 million Italian-Americans”.

Perhaps Kimmel’s most well-crafted remark, which sparked a roar of approval from the audience as much for its pithiness as its wit: The much-honored Amazon transgender series “Transparent”, he said, “was born a drama, but it identifies as a comedy”.

Harington and Samberg teamed up onstage to put together sound bites for next year’s Emmys, and to be fair, this bit wasn’t hilarious-instead, it was so corny that it became glorious in its corniness.

Jeffrey Tambor captured his second consecutive best comedy actor trophy for “Transparent”, in which he plays a transgender character.

The comic surprises stopped with the Best Actress and Actor categories: Julia Louis-Dreyfus won for the fifth time in a row for Veep – a repeat, sure, but a well-deserved one.

And with the snap of a finger, we switch from comedy to reality TV. It was a hilarious segment people. Kimmel’s seen-it-all, above-it-all schtick can be a little exhausting in the traditional late-night format, which has essentially settled into the TV equivalent of a cup of lukewarm tea before bed.

American Crime Story with its portrayal of the landmark People vs O.J. Simpson trial was the next best thing at this year’s Emmys. “We won our first Emmy!”

Sterling K. Brown also won for outstanding supporting actor in a limited series for his role as Christopher Darden in the “People v. O.J”.

In an attempt at comedy that fell flat, the ceremony announcer indicated that Bill Cosby would be taking the stage. It was her third win for playing the formidable dowager.

“Thrones”, the blood-soaked fantasy juggernaut based on George R.R. Martin’s novels, was honored as television’s best drama.

This year, however, the series lost in the drama acting categories, which were far from predictable. Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek for Best Actor in a Drama? He shot back that Kimmel and ABC were giving Trump another free round of publicity while accepting an award for The Voice.

The BBC welcomed the wins for Sherlock and The Night Manager. The same episode also fetched the writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

“Jimmy Kimmel’s jabs at Trump make me that much more hopeful that he wins in November”, tweeted another Trump supporter.
