Matt Damon reignited his “feud” with host Jimmy Kimmel by crashing the stage while munching an apple to bully him about losing the best variety talk series award to comedian John Oliver.
“Ratings for the awards show, which was hosted by late night host Jimmy Kimmel, were down from last year’s 11.9 million, which had until now been the least-watched Emmy Awards”. The only truly odd note was a poor attempt at a Bill Cosby joke.
The new way to say I love you, Emmy-style, is “you rock my chain”, which is a lyric reference from Jay-Z to, naturally, Beyonce.
“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” had the second-highest number of nominations, and converted five of them to wins. A few awards later, Brown co-star Courtney B. Vance kept the riff going by thanking his wife, Angela Bassett, with obvious adoration: “To the woman that rocks my chain”, he said.
On picking up the award for Sherlock, Steven Moffat – the show’s creator – mentioned the BBC’s recent loss of its most popular programme, The Great British Bake Off, to Channel 4.
After serving as the butt of Emmy host Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes on Sunday night, the “Downton Abbey” actress shot back at Kimmel on Monday in the classiest but most effective of ways.
“Maggie, if you want this, it will be in lost and found”, he joked.
Sarah Paulson, who played former O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark, brought Clark to the Emmys and apologized to her in front of millions for not being kind in the past.
“Oh my god. Please tell me you are seeing this too”, said a stunned Malek, 35.
“I think that “Veep” has torn down the wall between comedy and politics”.
“I was actually speechless”, she said of the season seven script.
It was TV’s biggest night, and no one was watching. “It’s called the Maggie Smith Rule”. Kimmel even managed to mock people who shy away from gluten and take a jab at the makers of the EpiPen.

For the comedy series awards, Jeffrey Tambor of Amazon’s “Transparent” won the Outstanding Actor award while Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the Outstanding Actress award for her performance on “Veep”.
