But maybe we shouldn’t be surprised because she hasn’t even seen a single episode of Downton Abbey, the very show which earned her the majority of her Emmys.

Initial ratings are in for Sunday night’s 68th annual Emmy Awards, and they’re as bleak as most of the winners’ jokes about Donald Trump during the broadcast.

In his opening monologue at yesterday Emmys, host Jimmy Kimmel took aim at the 81-year-old’s tendency to rack up Emmy after Emmy, year after year, without ever bothering to turn up to the ceremony to actually accept in person.

Not only did Kate McKinnon promote Hillary in her speech, but director Jill Soloway also expressed some political opinions during her speech after accepting Best Director of a Comedy Series for “Transparent”.

When the victor was called for outstanding supporting actress drama series the audience let out a bout of laughter to learn it was Smith. “So if it happens for me, wonderful, and if it doesn’t happen for me, it’s all good, we come home and celebrate one way or the other, ‘” Courtney B. Vance said. The show had won nine awards at the 2016 Creative Arts Emmys, putting the series total at 35, the most wins for any drama series.

The Nielsen company said Monday that the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted awards show had the smallest audience for any Emmy Awards since records have been kept. “Our show started out as a political satire but it now feels more like a sobering documentary”.

It was also a big night for The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story (which premiered on OSN Play and On Demand), Ryan Murphy’s dramatization of the OJ Simpson trial. “We’re not mailing this award to her. Maggie, if you want this it’ll be in the lost and found”, said Kimmel.

Dame Maggie Smith won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Downton Abbey.

The breadth and quality of OSN shows nominated for Emmy’s this year, once again reinforces the world-class and award-winning content OSN brings exclusively to viewers across the region. The Saturday Night Live comedian, who had her website hacked and Twitter account flooded with racist slurs this summer, made light of the situation onstage with the Ernst & Young reps who hold the winners’ names.
