Emmys: RuPaul Wins Best Reality Host

RuPaul Charles won the award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program at the 68th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Sunday night, Out reports.

You better work – and she certainly has, for well over three decades in the entertainment industry now, which makes RuPaul‘s first-ever Emmys win all the more satisfying.

Charles beat out the two-time defending victor, Hollywood Game Night’s Jane Lynch, as well as Steve Harvey, American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest ( who ended his run with no Emmy ), Klum and Gunn, and Dancing with the Stars’ Tom Bergeron.

“I dedicate this nomination to outsiders everywhere”, RuPaul said in a statement after landing his first Emmy nomination in July. Courageous souls who stick to their dreams and make the world a more colorful place’.

“I admire all of those people”, RuPaul smiled.

The host, fashion icon, and supreme drag queen beat out strong competition for the award, such as Jane Lynch, Heidi Klum, and Ryan Seacrest. Nominated in the category as well were Dancing With the Stars, Grease: Live, Saturday Night Live and The Wiz Live!, which won the award.

Drag Race has run for eight regular seasons and two All Stars seasons, the latter of which is now airing in the States.
