“I thank you so much”.

Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul, which debuted in February, won the award for Outstanding New Program, while Mad Men star Jon Hamm took Individual Achievement in Drama for his role as Don Draper in the series which came to an end in May.

The TCA Awards, which are not televised, have been presented for 31 years by the Television Critics Association.

The TCA Awards also acknowledged TV history by bestowing the Heritage Award on Late Show/Late Night With David Letterman, and giving the Career Achievement Award to legendary producer/writer James L. Brooks (The Simpsons, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Taxi), who accepted with a moving speech (and who was honored in video tribute of sorts from Homer Simpson). “Mad Men” ended in May after completing seven seasons. “Inside Amy Schumer won Outstanding Achievement in Comedy“. Corden said when he was asked to host a TCA, he assumed it was “the Teen Choice Awards”.

The Lee Daniels/Danny Strong Fox drama, which led the pack with four TCA Awards nominations, beat out Amazon’s Transparent, AMC’s Mad Men, HBO’s Game of Thrones and FX’s Americans for the coveted TV Program of the Year award.

The night’s other winners included “Better Call Saul” for Outstanding New Program and “The Americans” for Outstanding Achievement in Drama.

Outstanding Achievement in Reality Programming: “The Chair,” the Starz series about two competing filmmakers.

HBO nabbed two prizes: Outstanding Achievement in News and Information for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and Outstanding Achivement in Movies, Miniseries and Specials for The Jinx.

Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries and Specials: HBO’s true-crime documentary, “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst.”

Recently retired Late Show host David Letterman was granted the career achievement award for his late-night work on both NBC and, later, CBS.
