A woman who survived the shooting at the Inland Regional Center came home to find the shootout between police and the suspects in front of her home.

The husband-and-wife shooters in Wednesday’s mass killing fired between 65 and 75 rifle rounds at their victims gathered inside a San Bernardino conference room for a work holiday party, killing 14 and injuring 21. She is Consumer Services Coordinator there.

One such officer is seen in this video, released to Southern California Public Radio, guiding frightened people, including a little kid, to safety.

“Try to relax, everyone, try to relax”, the unidentified cop said. I'll take a bullet before you do, that's for damn sure. “Try to relax”, the officer reassures them in the clip. “Try to relax, everyone, try to relax”. At the time, no one knew if one of the suspects was still in the building. Keep your hands where I can see them.

Those leaving the center follow their instructions, speaking only to thank the officer as they passed him.

In the aftermath of the shootings, the officer has been praised for his comments via Twitter.

“‪”‘Try to relax. Everyone try to relax. “That’s for damn sure”. “That man is a hero!” wrote Danielle Bean.
