Maine-Endwell returned to the Binghamton area of NY after a completing a flawless run that ended with a Little League World Series championship. Jude Abbadessa scored the run after his one-out single to left put the first M-E batter on base.
The Maine-Endwell team defeated the worldwide champions South Korea 2-1.
ESPN reports that this is New York’s first Little League World Series championship since 1964.
South Korea struck back with a solo home run from Yoomin Lee in the fifth inning, but the worldwide victor was unable to rally further.
Yoomin Lee homered in the fifth for the team from Seoul.
South Korea scored five runs in the second to take charge, starting when Minho Choi doubled and scored on Junhyeok Lee’s single. With a runner on first an inning later, Harlost snagged a hard-hit liner at the mound, tossed to first to get the putout and escape the third unscathed. He threw 22 pitches in the US championship with one walk.
Mancini allowed just one hit through 4⅔ innings and his offense came alive in the fourth. South Korea, meanwhile, beat the team from Aguadulce, Panama (KOR 7, PAN 2) to win the International Championship.
When asked how he felt, Harlost said winning was “the best”. “I’m just proud of them, second in the United States and to go through what we went through, awesome”. Abbadessa broke up the righty’s no-hit bid with a single to center. “We didn’t hit their pitching hard, we might have had one or two hard-hit balls”.

NY players said they knew they had a great team as soon as they reconvened earlier this summer. Any little hits that get anywhere, just gotta be ready to run home and get the run.
