England bounce back in first test against South Africa
Dale Steyn roared back to full fitness with three wickets to leave England’s hopes in the balance on day one of the first Test in Durban.

Overnight rain meant play was delayed at Kingsmead and a heavy shower ended the first session after just half an hour of play.
Taylor had endured a similarly lengthy exile from the Test side from August 2012 before a combination of domestic form and consistent impressive displays in the England one-day side prompted a Test recall against Pakistan in November.
A second successive test half-century for James Taylor marked a satisfying start for the diminutive England batsman in the test series against South Africa.
England new cap Alex Hales got off the mark with a clip to leg for two off the first ball he faced from Kyle Abbott and looked comfortable at the crease, although the only ball he faced against Steyn during the morning was the last delivery before the rain.
But for Hales, who will make his Test debut at the top of the order, and Woakes, returning after 18 months as James Anderson’s stand-in, it is both a major challenge and a brilliant chance.
“I tried my hardest to immerse myself within the state of affairs moderately than eager about too many private issues”.
Having been put in under cloudy skies England lost both openers to the fit and fiery Dale Steyn before key man Joe Root was undone by the gentle spin of Dane Piedt.
Compton will resume on Sunday alongside Ben Stokes, who is five not out.
“I was actually having fun with batting with Nick”.
“Jimmy’s disappointed but with the strength in depth we’ve got in this group it’s not a hammer blow to us”, said Broad.
Taylor, playing just his fourth Test match, admitted: “It couldn’t have been more ideal conditions for the South Africa bowlers so I thought overall it was a solid and successful day for ourselves”.
“Hash (Hashim Amla) is always asking the leader of the attack to set the tone and when we won the toss and bowled I felt I did my job today”, Steyn added. He did exactly what we needed him to do and, hopefully, he can kick on.
But after that, Compton and Taylor played in defiant fashion as the South African attack began to tire as part-timers Stiaan van Zyl and Dean Elgar were brought in to bowl without any success.

“James is getting in your line and putting you under pressure but the wicket was slow and did not allow them to get way from us”.
