New Zealand co-captain Issac Luke added: “We really enjoyed our tour of London in one of these traditional open-top London buses”.

Former deputy Prime Minister John Prescott delivered a stirring speech to the England players ahead of their 26-12 first-Test win over the Kiwis in Hull last Sunday and on Friday Britain’s greatest ever decathlete presented them with their shirts at the Olympic Stadium ahead of the second Test.

But coach Steve McNamara admits he’s more than happy to shout it from the rooftops as England gear up for Saturday’s second clash with the Kiwis at London’s Olympic Stadium.

“We were disappointed with the result, but I know that we can beat them”, he said.

England’s rugby league players got a taste of the Olympic Stadium turf ahead of tomorrow’s match against New Zealand.

“For the sport it is fantastic to be playing at the Olympic Stadium. Following the success of our rugby union friends in the World Cup, we hope to continue our country’s success in London against England and we are so pleased to be able to be a part of this wonderful stadium’s history, being part of the first ever Rugby League match to be played there”.

“It’s been a great year for New Zealand rugby”.

Stephen Kearney will have worked on the areas they need to improve on so expect a response to last week’s defeat. I do feel, though, that we left ourselves with too much to do at the start of the game.

“We’ve put a few things in place which will hopefully get us off to a better start because we certainly can not afford to be 10 points down again”. “We will concentrate on the processes and ensuring our preparation is right”.
