England set to appoint Sam Alardyce as their new manager
Reports from the United Kingdom appear to confirm that Sam Allardyce will be named new England manager within the next 24 hours.

Allardyce took charge of the Wearsiders for what should be the final time during a 3-0 friendly win over Hartlepool on Wednesday night, but did not re-emerge for the second half.
The only remaining issue to be settled is compensation to Sunderland, with Allardyce, who guided the club to Premier League safety last season, having a year left on his contract at the Stadium of Light.
England have been without a coach since Roy Hodgson stepped down following their Euro 2016 exit to Iceland in the last 16 and Sky Sports said Allardyce would be ratified as his replacement at a Football Association board meeting on Thursday.
Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson, meanwhile, says Allardyce has the right qualities for the job.
However there was still no announcement after the FA’s three-man panel of chief executive Martin Glenn, vice-chairman David Gill and technical director Dan Ashworth reported back to the governing body’s board.
“I will prepare his players for him, and always try to have English players ready for him”.
The new England manager has yet to settle on a permanent number two, but that appointment will be made in addition to the part-time role now being lined up for Clement.
What style of play can fans expect from Sam Allardyce as England’s manager? He is a good choice but he needs support.
But Eriksson, who led England to the quarter-finals of three major tournaments between 2001 and 2006, warned success was “not that easy”. If you look at the players we’ve got, especially with the younger players with their legs and the energy.
“I’m not suited to Bolton or Blackburn, I would be more suited to Inter Milan or Real Madrid”.
“And I wish him the best from my side and not just as a friend but as a Manchester United manager”.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho today backed the FA’s move for Allardyce, saying: “I think he’s the right person”.
