135 Runs scored by England in overs 41 to 50, the most they have scored in the last ten in a one day global (in matches for which ball-by-ball data is available i.e since 2000).

England, chasing a target of 248, finished on 252 for six with 12 balls to spare.

FIVE Yorkshire players have taken the field for England in today’s fourth one-day worldwide with Pakistan at sun-drenched Headingley.

Hales and Root fell in quick succession but by then, England was a healthy 283 for 3 from 38 overs. Captain Azhar Ali, who made 80 from 104 deliveries, was the only specialist batsman to make a significant contribution. “Jonny was outstanding but he’s finding it hard to get into a winning side, which is a good problem for us”.

England’s one-day cricket is in rude health right now but the same can not be said of Pakistan who desperately need a change in fortunes in ODIs and T20Is. “Irfan bowled well on his comeback but unfortunately his calf was cramping up. and we couldn’t break partnerships in that middle period”.

Azhar Ali is still out there along with Mohammad Nawaz in what already seems a hopeless endeavour.

But the fit-again Imad Wasim’s unbeaten 57 and his eighth-wicket stand of 56 with Hasan Ali took Pakistan past 200.

England impressed at Trent Bridge on Tuesday, scoring an global ODI record 444-3.

Alex Hales is the latest, after his record-breaking 171 against Pakistan as England sealed the Royal London Series on his home ground at Trent Bridge, to make it clear he has yet to make up his mind.

Root is seeking to become the first player since Pakistan legend Javed Miandad to score six successive ODI half-centuries today.

Pakistan were in danger of facing their heaviest ever defeat in an ODI when they reeled at 199-9 in the 36th over.

The last match of the series will be at Cardiff on Sunday.

Dawson impressed on his worldwide debut in England’s last T20 match, taking 3-27 in an eight-wicket win against Sri Lanka at The Ageas Bowl two months ago.

It looked like it would not be Pakistan’s day from the first few overs, when misfields allowed England momentum and once Hales hit his stride, despite his opening partner Jason Roy’s wicket in the sixth over, it was carnage at its ODI best.
