Enhanced Harry Potter books are an iOS exclusive

The full-color edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, illustrated by award-winning British artist Jim Kay, is the first book of the full-color series.

The Harry Potter film franchise will get its own dedicated TV channel for nine days beginning later this month.

Tech giant Apple released digitally enhanced versions of the entire Harry Potter series exclusively to its e-book app iBooks on Thursday that feature illustrated animations and commentary from author J.K. Rowling. The books can be downloaded individually and feature JK Rowling’s original text as well as interactive elements such as animations and all-new artwork.

The exclusive deal is a huge one, as the books haven’t been available outside of Pottermore, J.K. Rowling’s site for exploring the world from the books further, before today. “J.K. Rowling’s legendary series is flawless for enjoying on your iPad or iPhone, and we’re thrilled to offer them exclusively on the iBooks Store”.

All seven books are available in “enhanced editions”, which promise to deliver a new immersive experience to Potter fans.

The Harry Potter enhanced editions are available in English and come with a $9.99 priced each and are already added to the iBooks Store in 32 countries. Pre-orders are available for French, German and Spanish versions and will be available to purchase in 18 additional countries starting November. 9.
