Envoy attack illustration of total weakness of worldwide community: Syria opposition
The United Nations has suspended all aid deliveries in Syria as an immediate security measure.

Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry said: “Our thoughts are with the families of all those innocent aid workers cruelly killed just for doing their job, as well with the hundreds of thousands still waiting for humanitarian relief inside East Aleppo”.
“The humanitarians delivering lifesaving aid were heroes”, he added.
He says countries “that keep feeding the war machine also have blood on their hands” and accuses unnamed governments attending the United Nations meeting of ignoring, facilitating, funding, planning and carrying out “atrocities” against civilians on all sides.
The week-old attempt at a ceasefire, negotiated by US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, could be the final attempt by US President Barack Obama to negotiate an end to Syria’s civil war.
It describes claims that Russian or Syrian aircraft were involved as “hasty and unfounded”, adding the allegations could be aimed at distracting attention from an earlier strike on Syrian army positions by the USA -led coalition.
“Regime and Russian planes are responsible for this attack”.
Near the central city of Homs, the army shelled one village, while helicopters and warplanes bombed several other places, including the rebel-held town of Rastan, it said.
It’s claimed everyone knew about the aid convoy and had given it permission. Western officials hailed the trucks’ arrival in the town as proof of the deal’s potential success-until they were hit. Rhodes, though, didn’t say which forces struck. He and other witnesses reported seeing a reconnaissance aircraft observing the convoy before the attack.
The U.N. humanitarian aid agency says it has temporarily suspended all convoys in Syria following a deadly airstrike on aid trucks the previous night.
The head of the United Nations agency that coordinates aid, Stephen O’Brien, said the attack would amount to a war crime if it were found to have targeted humanitarian aid workers.
The attack marked a “very, very dark day for humanitarians in Syria and indeed across the world”, OCHA spokesman Jens Laerke said, adding that it was “paramount that we are able to establish the facts through an independent investigation”. -Russian brokered cease-fire had failed. The bombing came just after a weeklong ceasefire agreement, brokered by Russian Federation and the US, came to an abrupt end.
“Just when we think it can not get any worse, the bar of depravity sinks lower”, Ban said in the speech, his last as leader of the organization after a decade in the job, much of it preoccupied with Syria.
The airstrike killed 20 people Monday, including the head of the Syrian Red Crescent, and destroyed 18 of the 31 trucks that were delivering medicine, water, and food to help 250,000 stranded civilians.

Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed Tuesday that a drone had followed the convoy from a warehouse in the government-side of Aleppo to its destination in Uram al-Kubra. Both Syrian and Russian aircraft operate over the province, while the USA -led coalition targets the Islamic State group in other parts of the country.
